Embark on a captivating journey through Mexico from October 23rd to November 4th, 2024. Delve into the history of Mexico and the Aztecs at the Museum of Anthropology, marvel at Diego Rivera's murals in the Belles Artes art museum and explore the Zocalo's historic sites. Experience a sunrise canoe trip in Xochimilco, delve into the agricultural haven of Ruta de la Milpa, and master the art of Mexican cuisine in an afternoon cooking class. Visit the charming village of Coyoacán, and then journey to Oaxaca for a walking food tour, visits to alebrijes and mole producers, and exploration of ancient traditions. Conclude the adventure with a farewell banquet in Oaxaca before departing back to the United States on November 4th. Oct 23 Arrive In Mexico City
We will arrive at our accommodations, settle in, and enjoy a late supper together while enjoying Mexico City's most renowned taco, Tacos El Pastor.
Oct 24
Museum of Anthropology to learn the history of Mexico and the Aztecs with lunch at the museum restaurant.
Belles Artes to admire Diego Rivera's large and stunning murals.
Next, we visit the Zocalo, Mexico City's central square, to see the enormous the cathedral, presidential palace, and Templo Mayor. The remnants of Mexico City's great temple and the Aztecs.
One of Mexico City's greatest chefs will prepare a multi-course dinner with wine pairings at a restaurant overlooking the Central Square.
Oct 25
Sun-rise canoe ride at Xochimilco, the final floating islands of Mexico City. Here, we will learn about the local farming techniques and eat breakfast.
We'll move to Ruta de la Milpa, an agricultural haven outside Mexico City. Here, we'll immerse ourselves in the renowned cactus fields (nopale), celebrated for their key role in various Mexican dishes. A delectable lunch, featuring freshly harvested, cleaned, and expertly prepared cactus, will be served amidst the picturesque fields.
Next, we'll explore San Pedro, a quaint village with a century-long tradition of crafting Molé. Immersing ourselves in this rich heritage, we'll spend time with a family boasting over 60 years of mole production. Our journey continues with an engaging afternoon cooking class, where we'll master the art of crafting MASA, tamales, and tortillas.

Brace yourself for an early start, with a thrilling drive out of the city to catch the sunrise. Once there, our adventure continues with an awe-inspiring exploration of the pyramids, guided by our knowledgeable expert. Get set for an unforgettable morning filled with breathtaking views and historical wonders.

Embark on a captivating journey to the village where Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera once resided. Guided by our expert, we'll visit the iconic Frida Kahlo's house and museum, explore Trotsky's last residence, and Diego Rivera's home, showcasing his remarkable archaeological collection. Paired with a delicious lunch.
Oct 28 Travel Day- Oaxaca
Oct 29
Today we will go on a walking culinary tour and experience the markets of Oaxaca City. Learn about mole production, chocolate, and the ingredients and recipes that Oaxaca is renowned for.
Oct 30
We will travel outside of the city to Teotilan de Valle. We will then travel to Hierve el Aqua, which is well-known for its textile production. We will meet our guide and hike through the area noted for its petrified waterfalls. We will then go to a famous mole producer and visit this eatery that is off the main path.
Oct 31
Get ready for an exhilarating day as we depart from Oaxaca city and head to a village renowned for its vibrant alebrijes. After breakfast at the beautiful restaurant, Almu the excitement continues with a visit to the factory where Pixar studied the creation of alebrijes for the movie Coco. Afterward, we'll explore the diverse world of pottery in Oaxaca, with a special focus on the production of striking black pottery. We will then learn about the Day of the Dead traditions and create our own altar. You are encouraged to bring pictures of people or animals who have passed on to place on the altar. At 10:30 p.m., we will leave for our cemetery to celebrate the Day of the Dead.

Get ready for a thrilling day as we set out to explore the secrets of Oaxaca cheese at a local producer. The excitement doesn't stop there—brace yourself for a hands-on cooking class where we'll unravel the art of crafting Oaxacan tamales and tortillas. As the evening unfolds at 10:30, we'll embark on our second cemetery visit for a mesmerizing Day of the Dead experience.
Nov 2
Today, we visit a local mezcal manufacturer to learn about their nursery, distillation process, and sample their products. Our tasting will be followed by a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant known for its Carnes Asada.
Nov 3
We will leave Oaxaca City to visit the Monte Alban Pyramids. Our visit will be followed by a visit to a local potter known for his green and gray pottery style. In the evening, we'll enjoy our final meal at a magnificent restaurant in Oaxaca.
Nov 4 Departure Day
A $1000 per person deposit secures your spot. The cost of this vacation includes all meals, some alcohol, ground transportation, our guides, museum admission, and lodging.
